During 2020 Chris was part of the Chile TOA 150 Team of the Deep Sky West Remote Observatory. TOA refers to TAKAHASHI TOA-150B REFRACTOR, the telescope the team used. The telescope is located at El Sauce Observatory in the Atacama Desert, Chile.

There are some targets which can’t be obtained from the Northern Hemisphere (and vice versa). Depending on what hemisphere you live in impacts your target selection and how good your data for that target can be so it was great to be a part of the Chile TOA 150 Team.

Below are astrophotography images using data obtained at El Sauce Observatory.

NGC7293, The Helix Nebula, is an example of a planetary nebula, formed by an intermediate to low-mass star, which sheds its outer layers near the end of its evolution. Gases from the star in the surrounding space appear, from our vantage point, as if we are looking down a helix structure. The remnant central stellar core, known as the central star (CS) of the planetary nebula, is destined to become a white dwarf star. Some have called NGC7293 The Eye of God.
