UFO Landing Pad
As far as we know, the Wilis Observatory has the only UFO Landing Pad in the United States. There is a huge field adjacent to the Willis Observatory which is custommade for a UFO landing. Willis Observatory hopes to average three UFO landings per year.
Spruce Pine has an annual Alien Festival. There are more UFO sightings in Spruce Pine and Mitchell County than anywhere else in North Carolina, and North Carolina is in the top 10 UFO hot spots in the US. Why not let the field adjacent to the Willis Observatory serve a very important purpose.
Willis Observatory UFO Landing Pad is not the first UFO Landing Pad. That honor goes to St. Paul, Alberta's UFO landing pad. Built as part of the Canadian centennial celebration in 1967, St. Paul, Alberta has an official UFO landing welcome site. Weighing just over 130 tons, the large flat concrete structure contains a time capsule to be opened on the 100-year anniversary of the pad’s opening in 2067.
Hats off to the Canadians, however, they made a big mistake with the concrete. Aliens prefer grass fields.
